Click and watch a video demonstration of one piece of the literacy program I have spent the past six years working on.  This is a video, which transforms the point of student literacy.  Is the reading meaningful and relevant to students, or is the point to answer a set of low-level comprehension questions at the end of the week to avoid being stuck reading, Lucy’s Loose Tooth, or, How Forks are Made for another two long weeks?

I’m going to go with the former:  problem-driven non-fiction reading, and inspire-driven fictional reading naturally creates within students a strong need to express.
